Amy Winehouse Live @ SXSW 2007 - Love Is A Losing Game
The first time I heard Amy Winehouse's voice was on BBC radio atleast a year before " Back to Black" was released in the states, she sang the classic "Stormy Monday." I knew she would be a huge star & she did in fact go on to win many awards. I was however unaware when I first heard her sing, that like so many talented artists before her, she was being chased by the demon that is addiction. Unfortunately, the demon won in the end and another wonderful talent has been lost. I personally, will miss the musical possibilities that she would have created. However, in the aftermath of this tragedy, perhaps most importantly what needs to be remembered is that another family has lost a loved one to the disease that is addiction.

The One-Percenters - Roger Ebert's Journal
The One-Percenters - Roger Ebert's Journal I wanted to post this well written and interesting article by Roger Ebert. I am not trying to create a political blog (lord knows there are plenty) but thought this was an interesting read and worth sharing.

Lissie - When I'm Alone (Official Video)
Lissie is a great new artist I found out about this past year. Paste Magazine ( a great website) named her solo artist of 2010 . I saw her perform at Webster hall in February 2011, she put on a great live show. "Catching a Tiger, " is her studio album debut.

Nuit Blanche Festival 2010 NYC
This was a wonderful festival I attended last fall and encourage all of you to go to when it returns. Bring to Light was New York City's first ever " Nuit Blanche" a global all night public art festival that began in Europe. Bring to Light brought together New York visual and performance artists to animate public spaces and illuminate the industrial waterfront in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Louise Nevelson
I love the work of Louise Nevelson, her work continues to inspire me. " Sky Cathedral" is one of my favorites of her work and we are lucky enough to have it on exhibit in NYC at MOMA. “My total conscious search in life has been for a new seeing, a new image, a new insight. This search not only includes the object, but the in-between place. The dawns and the dusks. The objective world, the heavenly spheres, the places between the land and sea...Whatever creation man invents, the image can be found in nature. We cannot see anything that we are not already aware of. The inner, the outer = One.”
— Louise Nevelson by John Gordon, Whitney Museum of Art, 1967, p.12

Tennessee Ernie Ford Sings 16 Tons
This song is about the life of a coal miner, but I think so many can relate especially to the chorus "another day older & deeper in debt". Its been covered by many varied artists thru the years..The Clash called their 1980 tour the 16 tons tour.
